My Writing

Fiction for lovers of tea and scones, of castles and cottages,
and all things British

Book One Synopsis

A woman leaves America for an old English cottage to begin again. Years later, guilt pushes her estranged son to England, which leads him to discover a murderous truth from her past.

Susannah Wilkinson makes the move of her life from Louisiana across the pond to fulfill her dream of owning a thatched cottage in a quaint English village. Everything about living in rural England is as wonderful as she imagined except the constant tug of her broken relationship with her son, Ryan.

To appease his conscience, Ryan travels to England to settle his mother’s affairs and is unexpectedly drawn to a young local woman with a connection to the cottage and his mother. Guilt and grief rush to the surface as his stay lengthens, his bonds deepen, and secrets emerge from his mother’s past that challenge all he’s believed.

When I visited this 16th century thatched cottage in the quaint village of Ebbesbourne Wake, England, it became a huge inspiration for the cottage that my heroine, Susannah, buys in England.
